Kate is a qualified mediator and practised as a commercial lawyer for nearly two decades.

She graduated from Otago University in 1999 with a double degree in laws and arts. Kate then joined Anderson Lloyd and was with the law firm for 11 years, including seven as an Associate. She specialised in commercial and property law.

Kate spent time advising NGOs in Kenya, before she joined Goldsmith Law in 2012. After six years as an Associate and Contracts Manager with the firm, she decided it was time to establish her own consultancy focused on governance, organisational change and dispute resolution. Kate was admitted to the Bar in 2000 and remains an enrolled barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.

Kate’s legal knowledge, mediation training and understanding of governance mean she knows how to guide business owners and directors through difficulties in their relationships. She is also interested in stakeholder management, legal strategy and legal risk management

Working style

Kate is effective and authentic.

“My role is clear. I’m there to help build healthy, functional relationships that become enduring.”

Kate is a very good communicator and problem solver, by virtue of her analytical skills, technical knowledge and facilitation techniques.

In person, you will hear Kate before you see her. But don’t be fooled by her gregarious nature. Her mind is constantly active and seeking out solutions.
