The CV19 pandemic has given us the ability to think about doing things differently - and sometimes that will be differently in a positive way.
The Ministry of Justice is subsidising mediation services for small to medium sized businesses and landlords who have not been able to agree on rent during lockdown restrictions.
This will be available until the end of March 2021 and provide up to $4000 for a mediation in which both landlord and tenant agree to take part.
The subsidised dispute service is intended to settle any commercial rent disagreement quickly and cost-effectively, avoiding the stress, delay and uncertainty of outcome that is involved with going to court.
I am on the panel of mediators for one of only three government approved providers - a partnership between CODR and Immediation. This provider offers a specialist online mediation service which enables the government subsidy to go a lot further. It cuts down on the financial costs and time of travel, not to mention the cost to the environment.
